Bangus Nomad: Remote Workers & Digital Nomads in the Philippines
What is the Future of Work in the Philippines?
In the heart of the Philippines, a groundbreaking initiative is transforming the landscape of work and travel.

Bangus Nomad, founded by Jayson Dolorito, is more than just a social community platform; it’s a movement dedicated to empowering Filipinos to embrace remote work and digital nomadism.
Here’s the inspiring story of how Bangus Nomad began and the passionate motivations driving its mission.
The Creation of Bangus Nomad
The idea for Bangus Nomad took root during Jayson’s journey as a full time remote worker & digital nomad. It’s his mission to explore the 82 beautiful provinces of the Philippines.
While working remotely, he experienced the joys and challenges of blending work with travel. He noticed a gap in support for Filipinos aspiring to break free from traditional 9–5 office jobs and embrace a more flexible, fulfilling lifestyle. Determined to fill this gap, Jayson embarked on a mission to create a community that fosters connection, collaboration, and growth.
Building a Supportive Community
Bangus Nomad started with a simple yet powerful vision: to build a supportive community for digital nomads and remote workers in the Philippines. Recognizing the isolation many remote workers face, Jayson aimed to create a space where members could connect, share experiences, and access valuable resources. From organizing meetups to planning the annual Bangus Nomad Workation, a 7-day experience in a digital nomad-friendly location, the platform is designed to bring people together intentionally.
Empowering Through Education and Resources
One of the core motivations behind Bangus Nomad is to enhance the digital competitiveness of the local workforce. The platform offers free and paid resources on developing digital skills, travel guides, and tips on transitioning from traditional office jobs. By providing these resources, Bangus Nomad helps Filipinos acquire the skills needed to thrive in the gig economy and find new opportunities in the digital age.
Advocacy and Community Impact
Jayson’s dedication extends beyond building a community; he is actively advocating for the Philippine Digital Nomad Visa Bill. Highlighting the high-income potential of digital nomads, Jayson underscores the economic benefits and tourism market growth this demographic can bring to the country. His advocacy efforts aim to create a supportive legal framework for digital nomads, further boosting the Philippines’ appeal as a top destination for remote work.
A Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Jayson is focused on expanding Bangus Nomad’s reach and impact. He is partnering with organizations, LGUs and experts who share the common goals. The official launch that will take place in Bulacan will introduce Bangus Nomad, featuring discussions on generational issues, the future of remote work, and the importance of digital skills. The event will culminate in a networking party, fostering connections and collaboration among attendees.
Jayson is also preparing for the very first Bangus Nomad Workation in April 2025, a 3-day event that promises to be an enriching experience for participants. Furthermore, he is working on building a list of remote worker-friendly coffee shops, coworking and coliving spaces across Luzon to provide members with more options and support.
